Born and raised in Arizona! 3rd generation Arizonan (Cottonwood, St. John’s, Safford, Show Low) I love and cherish this state. Born in Mesa, I spent my childhood in the White Mountains (Pinetop) and through boy scouts was able to camp all over Arizona (my favorite place of course was Sedona).

When I put into words what Sedona means to me I think of vortex, fire and rebirth.  Vortex is a swirling energy that is constantly changing everything around it, The inhabitants and visitors of Sedona are forced to change constantly by this vortex energy, nothing is constant.   Also, this land is hot so I think of the word fire, red, and ceremony – this is a place of purging and cleansing through the red clay and fire!  For whatever reason people come to Sedona, it offers them the support to be reborn.  This land offers all of its healing powers to help me find transformation in my individual life.

As a painter, I love painting the complex curvature of the stone and the unique light that changes the color of the rocks hour-by-hour. I start off with an abstract underpainting in acrylics. I sketch from eye and move to oils building foundations of color separating lights from shadows.
