Sculptor
Karla recently moved to Sedona after retiring from a career in beauty, as a boutique owner, dealer in fine jewelry holding a GIA certificate in diamonds and colored stones, and a hairstylist and colorist, all in Annapolis Maryland.
During this time she came to understand something of great importance: that surrounding herself with beauty, in her environment, in hair, color, clothes, and fine jewelry, came from her need to create. She had the soul of an artist, not an entrepreneur.
Karla spent the next six years taking art lessons at the college level. She started with drawing, painting, sculpture and oil classes. The, after several years, she put her hands in clay and it was like coming home.
The next six years she studied ceramics and different techniques in hand-building. Her dream was, after she retired, to be able to return to creating her art and further her education. She has been in Sedona for two years and has studied with John Soderberg and is currently studying with Barbra R Brown and is transitioning from ceramic to bronze.
