Joe, a multifaceted visual artist (painter, printmaker, sculptor) as well as a creative director, illustrator living in Scottsdale. His work reflects a colorful bi-cultural perspective formed by the Arizona and Mexico regions. Additionally, Joe teaches Cultural Relevance and Branding in the Herberger Institute for Design and the at Arizona State University.
Joe’s work has been featured in various exhibits and publications throughout the U.S. and Mexico. His work evokes color and passion, much of his subject matter includes Corazones (hearts), filled with love, lust, passion, and emotion. Joe’s work also includes Angels which are healers and protectors, as well as voluptuous Desert Sirenas, and the occasional masked Luchador.
Joe includes the art of storytelling into his topics to create word pictures and a sense of place and emotion for the audience.
He is a long-time artist member of Xico, Arte y Cultura, located in downtown Phoenix. His work can be seen at Xico: www.xicoinc.org
Locally, Joe is represented by Royse Contemporary in Scottsdale.
Joe was born in San Luis, R.C., Sonora, Mexico and grew up in western Arizona on the Colorado River Indian Tribes (CRIT) Reservation in Poston, Arizona.
