Jessica Sierra is a founding member of the Sedona Visual Artists’ Coalition. She has two masters degrees in Education and has taught art and mediation. She is a facilitator of NonViolent Communication groups which is a practice where individuals learn to talk to one another in ways that increase their chances of understanding and being heard by one another toward fostering empathy, connection, and understanding. She has been involved in learning and teaching NonViolent Communication (NVC), developed by Marshall Rosenberg and based on the work of Carl Rogers, since 1996. Jessica was the founder of the VMS – volunteer mediation Services sponsored by the City of Sedona. This service provides free mediations for disputes between neighbors and others in conflict.
She started mediating in 1985, and has mediated for the Attorney Generals Office, and has been on the panel of the American Arbitration Association as an arbitrator and mediator. She currently has a contract with the US Post Office mediating their labor disputes. In addition to her communications skills, Jessica is an accomplished artist and has been commissioned privately, as well as by the City of Sedona, and by Sedona Jewish Synagogue.
