Debra Behr is inspired by the beauty and natural delights of deserts as well as islands and mountains. Her visits to Sedona have been in all seasons, and she wrote a travel article about a Christmas celebration for one newspaper, captured autumn colors at West Fork published by another and snapped an image of javelinas selected for a book.

Raised on a barrier island, she hiked and/or kayaked and explored the Cook Islands, Hawaii,  Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Saba, St. Barts, Baja, the Channel Islands, Anguilla and St. Martin. Her images appeared on the covers of Lonely Planet Fiji, Lonely Planet Samoa & Tonga, Top Trails Maui and Afield & Afoot in Los Angeles. Her photos have also been published inside encyclopedias; travel guides including Fodor’s and  Frommer’s; books, including Time books; advertising campaigns; and Travel + Leisure, National Geographic Adventure, Islands, Hawaii, Condé Nast Traveler, and other magazines. Her work is available through Photo Resource Hawaii.

She studied journalism at the University of Missouri School of Journalism, worked as a writer at a major newspaper and focused on people, pets, places and events using Velvia film as well as digital cameras.
