See artists painting in the Shangri-La of the Southwest! Sedona is a sublime environment with stunning beauty and the Sedona Arts Center has roots going back 60 years to the founding of Sedona’s identity as an ‘art colony’. The Sedona Plein Air Festival takes place during the best weather period of the year at the height of tourist season and is supported by a group of very experienced and enthusiastic staff and volunteers. All painters are welcome! You do not have to be an OPA member, and all media artists may participate, show, and sell; however, in keeping with OPA guidelines, only oil painters may participate in the judged event. Mini-reception, show, and sale at the Sedona Arts Center Saturday the 16th at 5:00 - 7:00 pm in the Theatre Studio. Ribbons and prizes will be awarded. Special Silent Auction Previews:
First Friday December 6th!
Also December 11th, from 5 to 7 pm, a special reception for the Silent Auction will feature demonstrations by three local artists. Watch as they create! Gretchen Lopez will be creating a unique portrait from life, Neil Kennedy will be demonstrating on the potters wheel and Vince Fazio will be working on a landscape painting. Guests are invited to bid on Silent Auction items and bid on these artworks while they are happening! All Silent Auction items will have special "Buy it Now!" option. Refreshments will be provided!
Over 220 women artists applied for the exhibition from 38 states and 8 countries representing work that has in some way been influenced by the surrealist movement. The scope of the exhibition is very diverse. Surrealist influence appears in abstract expressionism, process art, conceptual art, and various forms of magical realism and visionary art as well as collage, sculpture, assemblage, and painting that relies on evocative juxtaposition of various imagery. Because of its relationship to the unconscious and the mythic, surrealism has often been associated with a spiritual quest, situating art as a healer of the rift between nature and human reality through its unique creativity.Find out more »

Don’t refuse to see the Salon Des Refuses Exhibition! Salon Des Refuses, an exciting rogue art exhibit, is Opening on Friday, Jan 17th at the Sedona Art Center in Uptown Sedona off 89A on Art Barn Rd. Running from October 28 through November 5, The Sedona Renegades artist group will present a remarkably diverse art exhibit at the Sedona Arts Center.
