Attend the Fall Artist Open Studios Tour In Sedona on
October 26, 27 & 28

The Sedona Visual Artists’ Coalition (SVAC) Studio Tour has experienced significant growth over the last several years, becoming one of Sedona’s “Can’t Miss” events. In fact, the Tour has been designated one of Sedona’s top cultural events by the Sedona Chamber of Commerce.

This year there are 50 artists who will open their studios on Friday and Saturday October 26 and 27th from 10 am to 5 pm and on Sunday the 28th from 12-5 pm. The Sedona Arts Center we will be hosting three of the amazing open studio artists: Karen Taylor, Rob Williams, and Debra Levidow. The tour is self-directed and free to the public.

It is a wonderful opportunity to shop for unique, one of kind gifts and meet directly with the artists of the Verde Valley. The studios are located in Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek, Cornville, Cottonwood, and Clarkdale.

Karen Taylor was born and raised in San Francisco. Her study of Anthropology explains her fascination with indigenous peoples, their cultures and arts. After college Karen moved to Nevada, where she lived and taught school on a Shoshone Indian Reservation for two years. The elegance of the culture and the high desert light inspired her to paint and preserve the legacy of Native American artistic traditions. She is a self-taught artist inspired by the faces and lives she shared. She has educated herself by taking numerous workshops in many southwest states.

Rob Williams started art classes a few years, taking lessons initially in painting and later in ceramics.  Ceramics resonated with Rob and the teachers at Sedona Arts Center (SAC) provided a fundamental understanding of working with ceramics and the freedom and encouragement to be creative.  Rob’s work today is inspired by his Native heritage.  His Mother was a Native American (Caddo), a homemaker and a seamstress.  She had numerous catalogs and collectables with Native designs, buttons, and symbols.  In his youth he spent countless hours recreating the images from those catalogs.

Debby Levidow is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice in Scottsdale, AZ.  She has always been interested in the arts as a creative outlet.  Through the years, she has loved to paint, knit, sculpt and draw.  She was bitten by the pottery bug five years ago after taking a class in Phoenix with some friends.  Soon after, she found a home at the Sedona Arts Center and began taking classes there.  She spends her free time in her studio throwing on the potter’s wheel.  She enjoys the process of raku and the more organic forms of finishing her pieces such as using horsehair and Ferric Chloride and Saggar.  She is inspired by the beauty of nature.  When she is not on the wheel. She enjoys hiking and spending time with her Goldendoodle, Piper.  She currently splits her time between Scottsdale and Sedona.

Karen will be exhibiting her work in the Sedona Arts Center Fine Arts Gallery, Debra and Rob will be showing their work in the Sedona Arts Center North Studio.
